Standing Together to Protect Our Community
Protecting our community for future generations.
Why We Organize
In early 2024, residents of Maplewood learned that tech giant NorthStar Computing planned to build a 300-megawatt data center on 150 acres of farmland just outside our town. The project would consume 1.5 million gallons of water daily from our already-stressed aquifer, operate diesel generators around the clock, and sit less than half a mile from Maplewood Elementary School. What started as rumors at the hardware store became real when our county supervisors scheduled a special zoning hearing with just 10 days' notice. Most of us had never heard of a data center before, let alone understood how one this size would transform our community. We're farmers, teachers, small business owners, and retirees who chose Maplewood for its quiet character and clean water. We're not against technology or progress—but we are against sacrificing our community's future for a facility that brings minimal jobs while permanently depleting our groundwater. This site exists because we refuse to let our town be bulldozed without a fight. We're organizing to demand real environmental review, transparent public process, and a say in decisions that will affect Maplewood for generations. Whether you're a neighbor, a concerned citizen in another community facing similar threats, or someone who believes locals should have a voice in their own future—we're glad you're here.
